Supporting Community Crops

Supporting Community Crops

We just had the privilege of delivering a pickup to the wonderful folks over at Community Crops (that’s Andrea and Ingrid taking the keys).

Community Crops is all about helping people work together to grow healthy food and live sustainably. They started out as a small community garden in 2003, and have since expanded into providing a number of great programs in the Lincoln area to promote sustainable living; including a training farm that provides technical assistance and land access to aspiring local farmers. Really great stuff.

Like many community-focused organizations, times are tight for Community Crops. Specifically, they were in need of a vehicle to transport equipment and to pull a 1-ton trailer. That’s where BPM Inc. stepped in and matched them with a pickup truck that met their needs.

We’re super excited about the impact that this crew will continue to have by promoting sustainable, wholesome food production in Lincoln!

Kia-Mitsubishi Ribbon Cutting

After months of construction, the Anderson Kia-Mitsubishi crew is finally moved in to their new store. It was sure worth the wait; this store is looking awesome!

The Chamber of Commerce and members of the local media were on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning, and all were in good spirits as we gathered to celebrate the opening.

Between this $1.5 million renovation and the updates in progress at the Ford Store, we hope to significantly increase our presence and footprint in the St. Joseph market. The vision is really starting to take shape, and exciting days are ahead.

Awesome work by Bob Bledsoe and his team pushing through the construction and mess. They even managed to sell a bunch of cars while they were waiting for the new building 🙂

A Local Partnership

Giving away 100 cars in 2014 is a tall order. And we’re up for the challenge! Part of making that happen is by looking for creative ways to make our non-profit’s dollars go further in service of people in need.

This Dodge Durango is our latest acquisition slated for donation. It’s a solid car! When we received it though, it was in serious need of four new tires. This led us to contact another local business in pursuit of assistance.

After speaking with the fine folks at T.O. Haas and sharing with them the vision of Because People Matter Inc., they agreed to donate four tires to the cause.

This vision of helping people is bigger than us here at Anderson. It can be shared and carried forward together with others in our community. All with the end result of having a wider impact. Exciting days to come!

Training Questionnaire

We believe that proper training and continued development is important for every person at Anderson, and we’re working to create some tools that will make training more effective across the board. To help us do that, it would be great if you could take two minutes to answer a couple survey questions.

These are totally anonymous, and will only be used for the purpose of developing training materials that will be most beneficial for everyone.

Thanks!

Help for Gail

We were introduced to Gail by some great people from a local church, and it soon became apparent that her family was in real need of reliable transportation. Through generous contributions from members of her church and in partnership with our vehicle networks, we had the honor of providing Gail with a donated car. Thanks to the team at the Ford store in Lincoln for helping to make this story a reality!

In case you hadn’t heard, we’ve set a bit of a daring goal this year. We want to give away 100 vehicles via Because People Matter Inc. by the close of 2014. This is way more than we’ve ever done before, and you know what? So far we’re on track to meet or beat that goal! This is making a huge difference in people’s lives.

We’re excited to keep these donations rolling.

Noyes Home Donation

We just dropped off a $500 check to a really great organization serving St. Joseph and the surrounding area. The Noyes Home is a wonderful organization doing vital work in service of youth in our community:

For more than 110 years, the Noyes Home has been a place where a child who is facing a family crisis feels safe, and can just be a child, until the family is able to get back on its feet. The Noyes Home is a place where a family facing eviction or a job loss can talk about their next steps with professionals while their children are cared for with kindness and compassion.

Check out the artwork from the kids!

A special piece of art work from the kids at the Noyes Home!
$500 in support of this great organization
