UCP Chili Challenge

Once again, Anderson Participated in the UCP Annual Heart of America Chili Challenge. The UCP of Northwest Missouri is an awesome local organization that serves people with disabilities in our community. A brief bit from their website:

We’re about life without limits for people with disabilities…And creating opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to learn, grow, dream, and thrive. UCP is about getting the whole community involved, from our integrated preschool, to job development, volunteer programs and special events that help people understand disabilities in our region.

Every year, a chili cook off is held to raise money for the UCP. The St. Joe crew participated and their chili took 3rd place in the People’s Choice category. Nice work guys! More importantly, they were able to raise $10,700 in support of UCP in Northwestern Missouri. What an amazing effort!

Also Bob and Seth are looking good in Mardi Gras garb 🙂

InterServ Donation

S1321_image

This time of year often brings to mind images of cozy families enjoying one another’s company around a home cooked meal. But for many, hunger is a cold reality that doesn’t take a break during the Holiday season.

The St. Joe team put together an awesome donation for InterServ in St. Joseph. InterServ is a group of volunteers, churches, and community organizations that:

…provides programs and services designed to lessen the impact of poverty on our community.

This donation was put together by the Ford Store, Kia & Mitsubishi, and St. Joe Honda. Great work team!

Team Jack

AAG_TeamJack_WEB

If you’ve followed Husker Football this last year (sorry Missouri people! :)) there’s probably no way you’ve missed the Story of Team Jack. 7-year old Jack Hoffman is a die hard Husker fan. He’s also been battling an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer. After developing a relationship with Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead during 2011-12, Jack  was invited by the University to participate in the Husker’s Spring Game in a pretty special way:

Jack’s story caught fire in the national media soon after, and he even got an audience with President Obama. As the spotlight turned to them, the Hoffman family felt compelled to use their momentum to help raise awareness of pediatric brain cancer. They started Team Jack Foundation shortly after with the following mission:

Funding = Research = Cure.  The diseases that we as a society spend resources on, ultimately see improved treatments and survival rates.  It is time that pediatric brain cancer becomes a member of that community.

The Ford Store in Lincoln is partnered with the Team Jack Foundation in a unique way for the next month. We’re donating $100 for every car sale and $20 for every test drive. We’re hoping for a great response to help out a great cause!

Drive One at Lincoln High

We wrapped up a great event with the Lincoln North team out at Lincoln high on Tuesday. You probably know the drill by now: $20 per test drive donated to the school we’re partnering with. In this case we were helping to raise money for the athletic department.

We ended up raising $2100 for the school! Thanks to all those that volunteered their time to staff the event.
