A Car For Tami

L1403_image

Meet Tami. She’s raising two children on her own, one of them with special needs. Her car was recently T-boned, and she found herself in the position of being unable to replace it. BPM Inc. was able to locate a 1996 Honda Accord and provide her with a reliable vehicle to keep her family safely on the road.

What seems like a routine donation on its face, is actually a look into the future of the impact that we’ll be able to have on families in need. Pictured just to the right of Tami is a gentleman named Mark Cooley. Mark is with the Lincoln Auto Auction and works with dealers from all over the area on a regular basis. He recently had the opportunity to hear more about what we’re doing with BPM Inc. and our efforts to impact families in need by donating reliable vehicles. Mark was inspired by the vision and immediately recognized his own business’s unique position to broaden the impact.

Mark committed to donate one car per month to the BPM Inc. donation pipeline. That will allow us to more than double the amount of cars that we give away to people like Tami! The ripple effect of this is huge. Not only are we now able to donate more vehicles to people in need, but we can begin to utilize 501c3 funds that were wrapped up in acquiring vehicles for other BPM Inc. initiatives.

Being part of the Anderson Team means you are truly having a unique impact. Mark works with all kinds of dealers everyday, and Anderson’s Mission stood out amongst them all. A unique and powerful partnership is now the result, and your contribution as part of the Team makes this kind of story possible.

Exciting stuff!

Keeping a Family Together

L1402_image

Cynthia lives in Lincoln with her three boys. She is raising her sons alone, and one of them has special needs.

Reliable transportation is such a core need to function at a basic level in our society, and we’ve been involved in helping meet this need for single moms in our community for a number of years now. For some, our car care clinics have ensured that their family stays safely on the road by providing much needed repair to a vehicle they already own. For others, we have had the opportunity to provide a new vehicle altogether.

The story today is about a donation that kept a family from splitting apart.

Cynthia’s sons had recently been having problems making it to school. So much so, that Cynthia began to hear from the Department of Health and Human Services on the matter. In fact, it soon reached the point that they threatened to take her kids away if she couldn’t make a case that the truancy would improve.

Turns out, because of vehicle problems, she was no longer able to consistently get her kids to school. If she couldn’t find a solution quickly, she would soon lose custody. Cornerstone Family Counseling caught wind of Cynthia’s story and reached out to BPM Inc. for help.

We were able to locate a van for her, but in a different way than ever before. After hearing Cynthia’s story, Bigler Motors actually ended up donating the vehicle to BPM Inc, and we presented her with the van at the Mazda store.

Did you catch that? One of our competitors heard the story, caught the vision, and stepped into the situation to help put Cynthia on a better path. Two dealers on the same turf saw a person in need, recognized their own unique position to help, and set aside business as usual to impact a family in our community.

This Mission that we keep our doors open for; there’s something to it beyond the walls of Anderson. At its core is a belief that people and their stories are incredibly important. Valuing people and helping create better stories is bigger than us. It crosses the border between businesses and binds together like-minded people that want to build a better community. As our Mission impacts our Industry, it will more greatly impact our Community.

This all starts with the sum of the individual efforts made on a daily basis by every member of the Anderson Team. Everyone’s effort makes our growing impact possible, and truly changes the lives of people like Cynthia.

Thanks for being part of the Anderson Team!

Team Jack

AAG_TeamJack_WEB

If you’ve followed Husker Football this last year (sorry Missouri people! :)) there’s probably no way you’ve missed the Story of Team Jack. 7-year old Jack Hoffman is a die hard Husker fan. He’s also been battling an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer. After developing a relationship with Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead during 2011-12, Jack  was invited by the University to participate in the Husker’s Spring Game in a pretty special way:

Jack’s story caught fire in the national media soon after, and he even got an audience with President Obama. As the spotlight turned to them, the Hoffman family felt compelled to use their momentum to help raise awareness of pediatric brain cancer. They started Team Jack Foundation shortly after with the following mission:

Funding = Research = Cure.  The diseases that we as a society spend resources on, ultimately see improved treatments and survival rates.  It is time that pediatric brain cancer becomes a member of that community.

The Ford Store in Lincoln is partnered with the Team Jack Foundation in a unique way for the next month. We’re donating $100 for every car sale and $20 for every test drive. We’re hoping for a great response to help out a great cause!
